Dr. Johnson is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as fellowship-trained in non-surgical interventional sports and spinal procedures. He not only treats the reason for the visit, but is careful to thoroughly educate the patient about all aspects of his or her ailment(s).

Dr. Johnson provides comprehensive, compassionate care for sciatica, arm and leg pain, neck pain, failed back syndrome, sports-related injuries, spinal stenosis, disc injuries, aches and pains, and headaches.

In addition to his extensive medical training, Dr. Johnson is a board-certified Chiropractic physician.

After medical school, Dr. Johnson did training at New York University and St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center and attended Nassau University Medical Center for his residency. He then attended his pain fellowship at Ahwatukee Sports and Interventional Pain Management in Phoenix.

Eugene Johnson, MD

Penny is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who is a native of Colville, Washington. She graduated from Medex Northwest Physician Assistant Program at the University of Washington in Seattle. Penny has extensive knowledge with Interventional Pain Managment, Sports Medicine, Orthopedics and Orthopedic Spine Surgery from Abrazo Spine Institiute, Orthopedic Specialists of Scottsdale and Star Orthopedics in Ranch Mirage, Ca.

Penny is experienced with spine, hip, knee and shoulder management which involves injections, trigger point, review of MRI and CT scans, and nerve conduction velocity and electromyography.

Penny is married and they enjoy their grandchildren, hunting, fishing, hiking, cooking, rock collecting and spending outdoor activities with their dogs.

America Ramirez, FNP-C, is a compassionate and experienced Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in chronic pain management at Southwest Sports and Spine. She is committed to improving the quality of life for patients living with persistent pain through individualized, comprehensive care plans that address both physical and emotional well-being. America began her healthcare career in 2016 as a registered nurse in the emergency department at Oro Valley Hospital, where she developed a strong foundation in high-acuity, fast-paced clinical settings. Her experiences in emergency and trauma care at Honor Health and Phoenix Children’s Hospital further shaped her holistic approach to patient care, particularly in managing complex and long-standing pain conditions. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN, APRN) with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus from Grand Canyon University. She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), bilingual in Spanish and English, and actively involved in professional organizations such as the AANP and the Emergency Nurses Association. Known for her kindness, empathy, and collaborative spirit, America is passionate about empowering her patients with education, support, and evidence-based therapies. She strives to build trusting, lasting relationships and takes pride in delivering patient-centered care that helps individuals better manage chronic pain and regain control over their daily lives.
