What is Genicular Radiofrequency Ablation?

The knee joint gets much of its sensation from the genicular branches.  Fortunately, these nerves do not control the muscles of the leg and can be ablated in patients with persistent knee pain.  The procedure can be done prior to, or after knee surgery if pain persists and other conservative treatments are not helping.
